A few things to share regarding these shows. '84 was the year of the olympics in LA (minus the Russians). The heads at this show were in full Olympic mode. After each song during each of the two days first sets there were heads holding up score cards just like an Olympic event. These two shows were like Olympic events in a bull-fighting arena, with plenty of great dance grooves.
Hell's Angels were the MC, or security, or whatever it was that they did, but they were way cool these two days. I remember going to the side of stage during a break and there were several Angels hanging out by the rest rooms, no one wanted to mess with them so the bathrooms were empty. I used them and was never hassled at all.
I remember these shows being very good, fun, and at times loads of grate Dead music. One morning, probably Sunday a seas lion (I think) had swam/washed ashore. A bunch of us tried to get it back in the water, but to no avail, it was way too big. The boys played a eulogy for the seas creature during the space segment.
Sunday's double encore was a great way to end for them as these were the last of their summer tour, Greeks '84 being the weekend before.
I had been living in North Hollywood for the summer and got a ride hitchhiking to the shows, the same guy saw me after Sunday's show and gave me a ride home. Thank you whomever you are!!!

Subject: this IS a scorcher
Different strokes I guess, but I find this show to be ON FIRE from start to finish, and better than the Sunday show. In fact, this may be my favorite performance of that hallowed year. These Ventura '84s would make an excellent official release.

Subject: Great sound
These have long since been some fine sounding boards.
The show is kinda average for a summer of scorchers like merriweather and Berkeley

Following nights show is tighter.

This is a very nice performance IMO. After the first track the sound quality is exellent as per usual with Charlie Miller remasters.
